Shipyard (Old Java Version)
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
NOTICE: This version of the game is officially abandoned, and remains available only for posterity's sake. Instead, I am working on a ground-up remake using C++ instead of Java. Development is slow because I have a full-time job, and the new version is still too early to release, but you can use the Brass Watch Games link below to go to my website and follow its development.
Shipyard is BWG's first (and only, so far) game project. It first saw the light of day in August 2013, when I released an early version of the ship editor as a "tech demo." Since then, I have been developing and expanding it. Though it is still far from complete, it has come a long way since that initial version.
Shipyard is a turn-based strategy game in a science fiction universe. The core mechanic is the ability to build your spaceship from individual systems. Combat revolves around strategically destroying enemy systems to hamper its ability to fight back while you wear down its structural integrity. The world is randomly generated and, though thinly populated at the moment, I have plans to fill it with NPC ships and stations, asteroids to mine, planets to explore, and all that good stuff.

Install instructions
Shipyard requires Java to run. If you have problems starting the game, please make sure you have the latest version of Java before asking for help.
Launcher
To use the launcher, simply download it and run it with Java. For most people you can do this by double clicking, but some archiving software will try to open the archive instead. If this is the case, right click launcher.jar and select Open With >> Java Platform SE Binary.
The launcher will automatically check for updates and give you the option to download them. Updates to the launcher itself must be manually downloaded, but I will often provide a link at the top of the changelog to make this as easy as possible.
Full Archive
Only use this option if the launcher doesn't work for some reason (firewalls blocking Java from using the internet, etc.). Download the .zip file and extract it, then run shipyard.jar the same way I described running the launcher.
This way of running the game does not notify you of new updates, so be sure to check this page or the BWG website for new content and fixes.

it says installed version:NOT INSTALLED and won't let me play it.how can you bypass the error? this launcher is in v2.2[BETA].it's latest version is PA 0.8.1a.
As I mentioned at the top of the page, this game is abandoned and has not been updated for several years. If you really want to play it, download the full client archive from this page instead, extract it, and run shipyard.jar using Java. Don't expect much, this game was just a fun personal project that I never came close to finishing.
thanks for your help.I really am exited about the full future release of this game.
for some reason after a extract the program, it won't allow me or show me the lancher. also I can't go to your website.
Wow I had forgotten about this page entirely. The launcher is a Java program--you're not supposed to extract it, but run the file as-is in Java. However, I haven't updated the game in years, and I don't know which version exactly is available here but I wouldn't recommend downloading it.
I am currently working on rewriting the game from scratch, but I'm still a long way from being able to release something playable. So, sorry to disappoint you, but at the same time you're not missing an awful lot.
